Unleashing a Brighter Future

The new shelter will provide a healthier, safer, more comfortable space for the shelter pets, the community, and the staff and volunteers. There will be adequate space to provide the best care for shelter pets and to meet industry best practices. There will be adequate space for the community to become more involved, especially the younger generation who will carry on the mission in the future. There will be adequate space for staff to collaborate and to do their work more efficiently.

With a new facility, we also envision expanding our service area even more, with the intent to help other communities reach the same level of success that we have.

Proposed Building Floor Plan

For the Shelter Pets

  • Separate areas to isolate shelter pets with contagious diseases and to quarantine newly-arrived pets keeping them apart from healthy, adoptable pets
  • Free roaming cat rooms with porches for a more natural, less stressful environment
  • HVAC designed for improved disease prevention, odor control and air quality
  • Receiving and treatment room with kennels for intake exams and medical treatment for shelter pets
  • Dog kennels facing one direction, reducing stress and noise levels
  • Separate cat condos for cats who prefer privacy
  • Separate room for contagious, but adoptable, cats with feline leukemia
  • More natural light
  • Dedicated grooming area
  • Dog behavior assessment and training room

For the Community

  • A pleasant and inviting facility for our community to enjoy
  • Indoor meet and greet rooms for spending time getting to know the animals before adoption
  • Education center for community events, meetings, training, birthday parties, fundraisers, and more
  • Space for more volunteers, especially children, to become involved
  • Open lobby area with plenty of seating and adoptable cats on view
  • Ample parking

For Staff and Volunteers

  • Kitchenette with lockers where staff and volunteers can eat and store their personal belongings
  • Office space for all staff to facilitate collaboration and efficiency
  • Adequate storage so that supplies can be kept at the shelter rather than in various off-site storage locations
  • Garage so that shelter vehicles can be kept safely at the shelter
  • Separate and adequate laundry, food preparation and equipment areas
